I welcomed Minister Catherine McKenna to Flemingdon Park with Yasmin Ratansi to visit Angela James Arena with students from Grenoble Public School, where over 300 solar panels were recently installed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and invest in local infrastructure for the community. I was proud to see this meaningful investment into our community towards Canada’s new, more sustainable energy plan that will see us completely ban coal power by 2030. Our government will continue to make these investments which ensure our economy becomes greener as we strive set the best example for nations around the world to follow.
Fortunately, investing in the community and reducing pollution through our price on pollution will not make life more expensive for families. On average, a family of four is eligible for a rebate of $307 per year through our Climate Action Incentive rebate when they file their income taxes. With our plan to put a price on pollution, the vast majority of families will be better off at the end of the year.
Our government also recognises that environmental protection and economic development are not competing interests. We have created numerous good jobs in the clean industry sector while reducing Canada’s emissions significantly. As we invest in sustainable energy sources like solar panels, we are building towards an economy of the future.
