Organizations, businesses and individuals of Don Valley West gathered at Tremco Inc. in the Leaside Business Park to discuss their thoughts and views with Member of Parliament, Rob Oliphant, on how best to deliver on an ambitious economic agenda to grow the economy and create long-term prosperity after more than a decade of weak economic growth.

Delivering on the Liberal government’s pledge of openness and transparency, today’s roundtable is part of a nationwide consultation engaging Canadians in preparation for the 2016 federal budget. Today’s discussion spanned a number of issues including diversifying the Canadian economy, making the right investments in infrastructure, creating jobs, and protecting the environment.

Mr. Oliphant provided participants with a first-hand overview of the challenges facing the Canadian economy. He asked participants to help identify opportunities that will contribute to more prosperous communities and long-term sustainable growth. Mr. Oliphant stated that the meeting “provided a unique opportunity for organizations of Don Valley West to participate in the decision making process while enhancing the government’s understanding of the Canadian economy”.

The meeting generated invaluable input and advice for the government’s economic agenda.
