Visiting The East York Town Centre
July 29, 2019

Lots of laughs and great catch up time with old friends and new at the East York Town Centre in Thorncliffe Park. I’m hopeful that with our government’s recent investment to seniors’ programs, seniors in Thorncliffe Park feel good about what the future holds and confident that support will be there for them and their families when they need it.

With Budget 2019, we’re funding more projects for seniors who want to stay active and involved in their communities while taking the next steps to make medication more affordable for seniors. We’re also investing $50 million to support Canada’s first National Dementia Strategy. This strategy will strive to the support and care for people living with dementia and their caregivers. Our government is also increasing the GIS earnings exemption to help working seniors keep more of their hard-earned income and making sure seniors get the CPP benefits they’re entitled to.

Canadians deserve support in their later years. Seniors have made tremendous contributions to our communities and have shaped our country in countless ways. Our strategy aims to support seniors living a variety of lifestyles. Whether they are working or retired, healthy or suffering from illness, our government will work to better their quality of life.
