JULY 5, 2021 - EASING BORDER RESTRICTIONS

Dear friends,

I want you to have the most recent information at your fingertips regarding COVID-19 and the border restrictions which have been in place for many months.

As of 12:01 a.m. (EDT) on July 5, travelers who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, arriving into Canada by land or by air will not be required to quarantine, stay at a Government operated hotel, or complete a day-8 COVID-19 test. There are specific eligibility requirements which must be met and these are described below.

Keep healthy and stay safe,

Rob

WHO IS FULLY VACCINATED?
To be considered fully vaccinated, a traveller must have received the full series of a COVID-19 vaccine — or combination of vaccines — accepted by the Government of Canada, at least 14 days prior to entering Canada. Currently, those vaccines are manufactured by Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca/COVISHIELD, and Janssen (Johnson & Johnson).

Our government has updated the ArriveCAN app for travelers to Canada. This App was updated on July 5 and was released in the Google Play store and the App Store for iPhone.

Travelers must use the Government of Canada’s ArriveCAN mobile app or sign in online to input their vaccination information, as well as their quarantine or isolation information before boarding their flight. This information must be entered within 72 hours before arriving into Canada. If a traveler is unable to use this App, a friend of relative can sign in and enter the required information.

EXEMPTION FROM QUARANTINE

To be exempt from quarantine and the 3-night hotel stay, a traveler must meet the following criteria:

  • Be asymptomatic;
  • Enter all information, including proof of vaccination in ArriveCAN;
  • Show evidence of a COVID-19 molecular test indicating that they received either a negative result for a test that was performed no more than 72 hours before the flight’s initial scheduled departure time, or a positive result for the test that was performed on a specimen collected at least 14 days and no more than 90 days before the flight’s initial scheduled departure time;
  • Be considered a fully vaccinated traveller and meet all relevant criteria and requirements; and,
  • Comply with any other applicable requirements imposed under the relevant Quarantine Act Emergency Orders.
